Our growing Employment Practice Group at McCormick Barstow in Fresno, CA is seeking an attorney who wants to take an active role on a variety of labor and employment matters including claims arising under the FEHA, Title VII, FMLA/CFRA, FLSA and California Labor Code. Working alongside experienced practitioners, you will receive hands-on mentorship while developing your skills in client counseling and litigation. This role offers significant exposure to individual, corporate, and public entity clients and is ideal for an attorney who is looking to build a well-rounded employment law practice and take on increasing responsibility.

In this role, you will:
Provide strategic legal counsel and representation to employers, businesses, and other clients on a broad range of labor and employment matters.
Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft, review, and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, position statements, and other key legal documents.
Represent clients in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and agency investigations and advocate effectively on their behalf.
Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
Lead and support discovery efforts, including drafting and responding to discovery and assisting with trial preparation.
Review and advise on employment agreements, separation agreements, workplace policies, employee handbooks, and related employment documents.
Participate in client meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings while collaborating closely with attorneys and staff to advance case objectives.
Advise and train employers on employment law compliance, workplace investigations, employee relations matters, and risk management strategies.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and Admission to the California State Bar required.
3-5+ years of experience.
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Experience handling discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, disability accommodation, leave of absence, and wrongful termination matters.
Experience in handling wage and hour class and representative actions preferred.
Excellent communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with great organizational skills.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
Familiarity with legal software tools for research and document management.
